Wonderful idea and fantastic stitching and construction.  I love all of the symbolism and thought that went into it.  I am sure she'll be floored by your talent and kindness. I agree, this rocks!

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful comments.

UPDATE: I originally was going to give this to her privately and had only showed my work to a couple people at work; but when our dinner went from being just the two of us to her whole section, I ended up making a big presentation at dinner.  Mona loved it and so did everyone else.  She had to take it out the next day to show everyone who didn't make it to dinner the night before.  I didn't realize she embroiders also, so she truly had an understanding of the effort that went into it. I also made her promise to show it off at work to my other friends who work back east with her.

This is why most of my embroidery is for swaps or gifts.  I don't have many things I have made for myself.  I truly enjoy making for the opportunity to give something of myself to others.

How wonderfully heartwarming. I'm so glad it went over so well. It was beautiful!
