My kidlet decided not very long ago that he wanted to have a Rock n' Roll birthday party. We really didn't have a lot of time or money to throw this shindig together but the kids seemed to have a pretty good time.

The invites were done up like backstage passes. I just printed on cardstock and then slipped the paper into a baggy, punched a hole and added some ribbon. The kids seemed to like these and some even came wearing them Smiley

We had a red carpet to greet the little rockers.

First stop was a photoshoot where each kidlet had their photo taken and I made a personalized magazine cover for each of them. I made the template so I just had to drop in the photo and change the name. The photos were taken in front of a white backdrop for easy cropping. Here's the birthday boy...

Here they are looking at some of the finished covers which they took home with them. The table you see here is my drafting table which I covered in paper and let them "graffiti" on. It ended up being a great spot for them to go to when the mania and noise got to be a bit too much, or when they just needed a minute of quiet time.

The VIP sign led into the dining room and the food.

We had candy sushi (most ate the candy and left the rice crispy part behind), fruit kabobs, fruit salsa, hot dogs, hamburgers, cheese and crackers, chips and....

a mini ice cream bar!

We played air guitar, applied fake tattoos, had a competition to see who would put the most marshmellows in their mouth and say "Rock n' Roll" without losing any, but mostly they just ran around like crazy people and whacked eachother with balloons  Cheesy

I'd definitely do a few things differently next time. One thing that occurred to me afterwards was how easy it would have been to make some Gold Records as awards. Spray paint some old 45's gold and replace the labels with "Hardest Rocker", "Best Air Guitar" and stuff like that... ah well, hindsight as they say.

I know it's a bit late but I abso-freakin-lutely LOVE this! I came across it looking for ideas for my son's 1st birthday. I just hope I can remember a bit of this when he's old enough to enjoy a theme like this. AWESOME job!

This is a great idea!  I don't have any children, but I do have three nephews...so I will be sharing this with my sister and brother. Smiley
