I just posted about this on my own blog, but I thought I'd share it here as well in case anyone is interested! This was my recent Mardi Gras costume - a dress I covered in stuffed animals! I managed to sew through my finger on the sewing machine for the first time ever making this thing, and it ended up requiring a mixture of machine sewing and hand sewing, and a whole lot of seam ripping to get those stuffed animal guts out, but it was worth it! Here are a couple of before and during shots:

I found a denim halter dress at the thrift store, which was too big, so I altered the size of the dress, and added some extra fabric into the skirt to make it fuller, and then basically patchworked the animals onto it. For most of the stuffed animals, I left the stuffing in the heads and took out the rest of the stuffing (although I left it in some on the legs or arms... it kind of depended on how I placed the different animals onto the dress).

It was a LOT of fun to wear, and VERY soft!

So funny, cute, and oddly stylish.

Ohh, I found the link again! Yay! I saw your great idea a while ago and had to mentally store at once. This is .. dare I say it... AWESOME! I have been haunting second hand stores to find usable old plushies ever since I saw your post first. We don't have Mardi Gras here, but the Grand Prix de la chanson is coming up ( my favourite excuse for utterly bizarre outfits) and I'm so looking forward to making an a.. ant of myself wearing something inspired by your great costume.
I luuuve it =)
