I haven't posted on Craftster for a couple of years now, life got busy Sad

I study at The Royal School of Needlework now, I'm in my second year. It's going pretty well!

I just made this, it's Lady Gaga in stumpwork- a technique popular in the 1600s. It's raised, with lots of padding, applique and needle-weaving and it's quite good at utilising the 'give it a bash' way I live my life. You use materials you can find and you problem solve as you go. At the RSN we have an 'RSN standard' way of doing things but that doesn't apply to Stumpwork so much. Fun!

I am doing a series of portraits of inspirational women, good role models. I began this with Lady Gaga - she's not perfect,  but she's the best we've got in the public eye, for young girls at the moment. Or so I believe!

Those are, uh, her exploding tits...

And that's a little microphone I made from Fimo and a hand made of wire wrapped with thread.

Nice to be back Smiley

Wow, that's so cool! I love it. Please post the rest of the series when you're finished, that sounds like an awesome project Grin

Holy wow, that is so amazing, and it sounds so therapeutic and fun to work up a 3D Lady Gaga!

I find it interesting that you chose an American flag for her outfit. Was that a real outfit she wore, or the way you think of her? (I guess how over-the-top she is is very American?) I can't Google up anything other than the skintight American flag outfit from the Telephone video.
