In January I celebrated chinese new year visiting lots of family and friends. With mandarin oranges in hand as good-luck greeting items. To create a custom oranges-holder, I altered a waffle can. Using lots of bunnies on it to celebrate 2011 being the Year of the Rabbit. With Easter round the corner, I'll be bringing this out for Easter egg hunts.

Some Handtools required :
Here are some 'making of' shots. Skip down to the next section if hand tools are not your thing. I drilled some handle holes, converted safety pins into bunny whiskers,. Then sanded, painted and 'glittered' up the alphas.

A closeup of the lid. You can just see the blue ribbon trim I treaded through the journal tag. and the row of fussy cut bunnies surrounding a layered chipboard flower.

And of the safety-pin whiskers on my bunnies with those sweet little flowers which serve to break up the cylindrical shape of the tin. The alphas were sanded down in order to 'take' the gold acrylic paint. And a first for me - gold glitter flakes.
You'll find the rest of the close-up pics here http://angsandy.blogspot.com/2011/01/bunnies-and-oranges.html

Have you started on your easter basket yet ? I still need inspiration for a couple more baskets.

WOW! Fantastic work! I can't believe all of the details that went into this. I think I could stare at the picture for an hour and still find new things to look at Smiley.

What a cute bucket Cheesy love the colours and patterns, and to use safety pins as the whiskers, great idea.

I used black mini safety pins so that they resemble whiskers for the bunnies

This is so cheerful and festive.  I bet everyone loved seeing you coming with your mandarin oranges.
