I don't know if anyone watches "Last of the Summer Wine," but here is my question.  One of the characters, Compo, wears a really neat hat.  My 12 year old son absolutely loves it.  I have searched HIGH and low for this pattern with no success.
Now, if I had more experience, or confidence I might come up with something similar, but......
I am desperate.  My son wants one for his birthday in July.  So, if any of you nice folks know where I could find this pattern please let me know.
Thanks in advance Smiley

I've never heard of that show!  Do you have a screen shot or a pic for us?

if you can't be a good example then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

oo i love Last of The Summer Wine. I always thought Compo's hat would probely be very easy to make, it kind of looks like a simple rib with a bit of a band around the base.

It probably is.  But, (there is always a but), then there are those cables.  Which I can do, but I don't know how to go about designing it.  Also, if you will notice the area between the cables.  Anyway, I appreciate any and all help finding this thing.

i don't know if its any good, i've been trying despiratly to get a good enough close up of compo's hat to see exactly what it looks like, i haven't seen the show in ages (not since leaving england) so my memory from the show alone isn't great

That is almost it!!  I am looking for a photo as we speak, huh, type.  The cables are right, but there is some pattern in between on Compo's hat.  Thanks

I watch that show too.  Have you contacted your local PBS station?  They might be able to get you a better detail of the hat at least, so that way you could fake it.

There's also basic cable from stitch n bitch nation (without the stripes and pompom, of course)
Here is a thread on craftster with some different people's versions.
