I needed and wanted something to wear out to restaurants here in Charlotte. Seems they all think that 55 degrees inside is a good thing and the constant cold air on my neck and back was ruining every restaurant meal. I bought a nice shawl thingy once but it looked more like a bed jacket! I used Red Heart soft blue yarn to make this shawl. Wearing it for the first time on Saturday, it was perfect...not too much but enough to break the wind coming out of those overhead vents! Soooo....I present my simple mesh shawl, finished last Friday, worn on Saturday.

Love your shawl!  How did you hook it together?  Did you use a pattern?  Your right the "air" always does seem to be on, and I'm sitting under it TOO!  This would be perfect.  Info please.

Oh  ya....this is really really nice.  Would love a pattern too, if you are able to accommodate.  Just lovely! Cheesy

I didn't use a pattern for this shawl. After learning a simple mesh stitch that seemed well suited to something like this, I just chained until I thought it was about what I wanted. For this shawl, which is 18.5 inches wide and 50 inches long made with Red Heart soft blue worsted weight (4):

Chain 92
Double crochet in the 8th chain from the hook (don't count chain ON the hook), *Chain 2, Skip 2 chains and double crochet in 3rd chain*. Repeat *-* to end. After last stitch in row, chain 5 and turn. Repeat until length desired!

23 chains gives you 6 spaces in a row. I'm working on a narrow garnet colored mesh scarf right now.
