When my brother got married this last Nov his fiance wanted her bridesmaids dresses to be really specific and decided such on short notice. Thus there wasn't time to order them to be made so her mom made the dress for her younger sister and my mom & I made the other 2. She found a dress on-line that she'd fallen in love with (Dessy Bridesmaid Style 2739 seen at http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/2739/?color=ivory&colorid=114) and we managed to finesse a Vogue pattern (8556) into what she wanted. The front was mostly the same as the original pattern but the back top was altered quite a bit with extra panels & side-ties.
Picking fabric with her took more than 4 hours and 5 stores {sigh}. Managed to get these sewn up in about 2-3 weeks.
(My brother called the Saturday before their Friday wedding and asked me to make *another* dress for a 4th bridesmaid because his future brother-in-law made it back early from Basic training to be in their wedding and they would be lopsided men to women. I nearly cried. Convinced him there wasn't time since we were making the cake too, on top of working full-time, and didn't have any extra fabric from the other dresses left. Whew. Was so relieved when they just settled for being lopsided  Smiley )
on to pictures:

Action shot during wedding - best I have until they get their real photos back. Mom & I made the dresses on the ends & her mom the middle girl

Can't tell in the action shot from the ceremony but one of the girls is about 6'2" tall and it was just impossible for me to *not* try on that tall dress. I felt like I was a little girl wearing mom's clothes. When I stood on this stool it still hung about a foot past my feet (and I'm 5'5")! Though that was before we hemmed it to her actual needed length so was too long for her too at this point. Smiley

The original pattern directions were fairly easy to follow; More straight forward than some of the other vogue patterns I've seen/attempted. Might make this again sometime for myself.

Great job (and good for you not making the last minute dress).
