Here’s the blanket I made for my niece who was born two months ago (she is Sagittarius, so I drew and crocheted a bowman hello kitty).
It’s my first project made with granny square, I was inspired by this post : https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=328097.0
I drew my model from a hello kitty cross stitch model and a hello kitty bowman picture.
I used an Excel page to do it. Here’s the “pattern” :

It consists of 1271 square sewn together. (947 white ; 189 black ; 97 purple (finally not red Smiley) ; 28 grey ; 4 pink ; 4 green ; 4 yellow).
I used “pingorex baby” yarn  http://www.rascol.com/laine-tricot/laine-pingouin/pingorex-baby/?gclid=CNvR072j7qYCFQgMfAodY0tjFg, and crocheted with a 2.5mm crochet.
Each square is 3 cm X 3 cm.
I crocheted them from July to December 2010, and sewn them from November to December.
Finally the blanket is 90 cm by 120 cm.
I was very happy to finish it just in time for Christmas!!!

Thanks for looking!

Wow! Here I thought I was done with granny square blankets for a while, but you are definitely an inspiration. Wink It is beautiful and must have taken many, many hours to finish. Great job!

What kind of square did you use?

thanks everybody for all your so nice compliments!!! Thanks for the HUG and the THIS ROCKS, I'm very glad that you like it so much! Cheesy
I was very happy to do this blanket for my niece, even if it was sooooooo endless! During almost 6 months I done squares each evening and week end. I was like a crocheter-robot Smiley
I'm an Hello Kitty addict (Keychains, socks, pajamas, 3D puzzle, figurines,...). I done many Hello Kitty amigurumi, and I wanted to do something new and useful.
kristel1978 : I use a basic granny square pattern, but done only the 2 first rounds. (I seen a lots of tutorials on the net and mixed them, according to the yarn thikness)
pattern I used =
start : Ch3, sl st in the first ch to close the circle
round1 : Ch3, 2 dc in the center of the circle, (Ch2, 3 dc in the center of the circle) X 3, Ch1, sl st in the first st of the round
round2 : Ch3, 2 dc in the corner n°1, Ch1, 3 dc in the corner n°2, Ch2, 3 dc in the corner n°2, Ch1, 3 dc in the corner n°3, Ch2, 3 dc in the corner n°3, Ch1, 3 dc in the corner n°4, Ch2, 3 dc in the corner n°4, Ch1, 3 dc in the corner n°1, Ch1, sl st in the first st of the round. Leave a long tail to sew
repeat, and repeat, and repeat,...
bananasandhair : I think that if you want to do an "adult size" blanket, you can keep the same pattern, but do 3 or 4 rounds,  so squares will be large enough. Good luck, cause it will take even longer to do it Grin
nmcakemom07 : I would have enjoyed to participate in the Hello Kitty swap, but I'm a newbie, so, I chikened out Smiley
I hope there will be another one later!
