I found this frame in June 2010 at the local Salvation Army for 5$. It was one of those finds where I called my mom to tell her about it, I was so excited! It took me 6 months to figure out what to do with it.

I started painting it when I realized that I needed a `before` picture.

I primed it with regular latex primer, with only one coat.

Here is the pic of it all primed. Sorry about the gross sink. Crafting comes before cleaning on weekends!! Wink

I brought the frame outside and spraypainted it with Krylon Multi-use gloss finish spraypaint. It`s called Grape.

Here is the end result! I love it so much, and I couldn`t be happier with the finished product. The only problem is, I have no idea what to put in it! I was thinking of putting a picture of my cats in it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for looking!

this is so awesome! i absolutely love round frames, and even more when they're ornate. i even like the frame just hanging without anything in it, it's beautiful and i'm totally jealous!

I think it's pretty empty, too. But if you really want to put something in it, how about a mirror? If I had the space I would do a wall of empty frames.

life without crafting would be like living in the dark.

Very nice!  I think it would look good with a black-and-white profile silhouette in it.  Simple enough to not take away from the interest of the frame itself.  Maybe you could do a silhouette of your cat, ha!

I also adore fabulous ornate frames! My favorite places are the bargain shops so I can buy them up cheap and spray them all kinds of gorgeous bright colors.

I agree with the previous poster who said a silohette. (I know... spelled that wrong... grrr!) I have some ornate frames that I spray painted glossy black, they were oval shaped. I took some bright scrapbook paper and lined the frame. Then created some silohettes of birds on branches with black cardstock. They look soooo sharp!

Great find! i'm always looking for cool frames at thrift stores and garage sales... I love ornate frames, especially when there are loads of them together on a wall...

I really like what you did to it, the color is great, and it looks great all on it's own.
I LOVE frames like this, and I am envious every time I see a post with a frame similar to yours.
I can never find anything like this, and I look ALL the time!

I am interested in personal swaps!

Looks great! And if you have a peephole on your door, you could hang it there like Monica has in her appartment's door in "Friends". I've always liked that for some reason  Grin

Sora: I've... I've been having these weird thoughts lately. Like...Is any of this real... Or not?
