I draw with a bar of soap...

I made this as a Christmas present for my roommate Andrea. It took a little longer to make than I expected and we just got around to exchanging gifts last week. lol So that's why I'm only just now posting. Anyway, she is very creative and wants to be a writer. I thought this would be a good way to spark her imagination without requiring words. She and I like to stretch each other creatively.

I included several different kinds of art papers including: sketch paper, drawing paper, tracing paper, linen paper and canvas paper. I used coptic stitch so it will lay flat. I had to rip out stitches a few times and it still pops open a little but I got it!

I even improvised a little headbanding.  Grin

Andrea likes things that are french inspired and her favorite color is pink so I used a pink striped paper with a fleur de lis motif for the inside of the covers.

I also made a stamp and stamped a letter "A" on pink paper for the inside front.

It came out looking slightly steampunkish, but she still loved it.  ^_^

Thanks everyone!  Grin Those corner pieces were darn hard to find but I was glad when everything seemed to come together. I went through a whole series of ideas for the front cover. For a first attempt, I'm quite satisfied with how it came out. ^_^
