how do I know when you have responded to my question?

Hi Karen Smiley. When you log into this site there are a bunch of blue tabs in a row on the right hand side. The top one is MOST RECENT POSTS  and the second last is REPLIES TO YOUR POSTS, that one will bring up topics you have previously commented on.
This tutorial was posted here in 2011 and by clicking on the name of the person who made the post ("reuse" in blue above the photo) it looks like she hasn't checked in to this site since 2013. There is a link to her blog in the post but that also looks like it hasn't been active for a while. I doubt you will get a reply from her but there are so many helpful members here willing to answer questions and talk things through.
There is a way to shorten metal zips, you can read about it and see pictures here:

I too joined this site when I knew hardly anything about computers but it is an easy one to use and I've learned a thing or too. Hopefully you'll check back in and look around, there are lots of tutorials and free patterns here Smiley.
