I've been suffering with a nerve condition called RSD for almost three years now, and through out that time I've been in many children's hospitals, and even stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland for up to three months at a time and I can't begin to explain how it's affected my life. I've met so many kids fighting cancer, waiting for organs, and dealing with things that no child should ever have to. All of this got me started on looking for ways to give back, and one of the best organizations I've found is Make a Child Smile. People make and send cards and small gifts to sick kids all over the country to, as the name says, make them smile. Take it from someone who knows, something as small as a card from a stranger can be enough to brighten a sick child's day.

I love to send cards and other goodies to the children at Make a Child Smile! Also, there is another, similar charity called Hugs & Hope: http://hugsandhope.org/

Have a great day!

I was thinking of making some crocheted finger puppets and small stuffed animals. I was planning to just give them to a couple of local hospitals. These charities seem a really good idea though. Perhaps I'll mail a couple out with a card and make some kids smile.

I just spent a very emotional hour on the MACS site.  Thank you so much for sharing that.  I will definitely be participating in sending little reasons to smile to these kids and their family members.
