Hello people,

I haven't posted in ages.... I spent the last year doing a course in fashion technology - learning pattern making etc. so have been too busy to post Smiley

So this is my own design and pattern - yay!   This is my favourite of the things I've made this year.  It's summer here now (in NZ) so I've only had one opportunity to wear it.  I'm looking forward to winter  Smiley.

So the top is a rib knit, the bottom is jersey knit.  I managed to squeeze the dress out of a little under 2 metres of fabric.  The front is sewn shut - buttons are decorative only.

I absolutely love dresses, but don't tend to wear them.  I either need to get realistic and start making trousers, or I need to just commit to wearing dresses!

Any comments/criticism gratefully received.

This is a great dress! I love the color and the fit. It really looks fantastic. You should definitely wear more dresses, they look great on you Smiley.

I luv purple because it's my fav colour, the skirt edge is current as well as the empire waist, but the sleeve cuffs are from another era,  they are made very well, but don't go with the youthful feel of the dress. Remove the cuff, keep the sleeves the way they are, billowy, and do the same treatment to the sleeve edges as you did to the skirt. You are very talented, and can wear this style of dress very well. Thanks for sharing

That dress looks great and great on you! I can't believe you don't wear dresses more often. very flattering.

It is better to have crafted and failed then never to have crafted at all.
Yes, I am stalking the Toys and Playthings board. Thanks for noticing!
I'm cheating on Craftster with Pinterest. It's ok though. There's overlap.

I actually really like the sleeve cuffs, they add to how classy this dress is. the buttons are perfect. great job!

Thnaks very much for sharing your thoughts.  I do agree the sleeves need some change but I'm not sure what I'd do - initially I thought I'd like more billow above the cuff but I think that with the weight of the knit maybe the fabric would still just hang rather than puff out.... calls for some experimenting me thinks  Smiley
