Topic: dumm question but what does knit fabric means?  (Read 6961 times)

It is maybe a stupid question but i don't speak that well of an English, i bought a pattern what is best made with knit fabric a internet friend told me but what does knit exactly mean?
is it like cotton?

knit fabrics are fabrics that stretch. cotton can be woven or knit. usually they mean something like a jersey knit, which is what t shirts are made of. there is also interlock knit, which is thicker.
