You know how fashion people the world over say not to pair blue and black together for fear of looking like a giant bruise?
Well, I choose to flout that rule. And to rub salt into the wound, I threw in some red.
I created this dress for the sole purpose of wearing it to a girls' day out a week later.

So here's the first dress I've made in a long, long while that has nothing to do with cosplay.
I haven't had much time for sewing at all since I started my last few years of high school..
Alright, I lied. I have all the easy subjects, barely get any homework and have become a lazy slob.

Fabric close up.
Here's the fabric that started the endeavor.
It was on sale for about $2 a metre and I knew I had to make some sort of dress out of it.

The skirt is a full circle skirt.
When I finished the dress I spent 10 minutes twirling around before I fell over and vomited.
There's just something so charming about re-tasting the marshmallows you ate half an hour ago.  Tongue

Bodice close-up
The black part in the middle was added in so that I don't show off too much cleavage, not that I have much to begin with.
It's tailored (not very well) to fit my chest so that I look like I have at least a little bit of curves.
The straps are beginning to fall apart, but I'll fix that when they fully break.
The black frills at the sides were added at the last minute because I was showing a bit too much *ahem* chest from the side.
They remind me of eyelashes.. Oh, yay, it's a giant bleeding black eye now..

Picture of the back
Excuse the hideously bad quality.
I had to up the brightness and contrast in order to make a clearer picture.
The back is quite low.
I love the feeling of the wind and sun caressing my back in summer.

Action shot from the day.
I'm camera shy a lot of the time...
I don't have any action shots of the full dress but I'm hoping to coerce my friends to take me to a park and take pictures of me twirling.

I do so love twirling.
C&C appreciated.

You need to post more stuff, just for the commentary  Cheesy

I wasn't a fan of it on the rail, but it looks fantastic on! Well done Smiley

Working a sewing machine is harder to than driving a JCB. No, really.

Well, it's the purtiest giant bleeding black eye I've ever seen Smiley

Humf, fashion rules are meant to be broken!  Great dress...not even remotely bruise-like.

If you can't do it with duck tape...it can't be done!

Haha! I love it! I break fashion rules all the time, but that is generaly becuse I don't know about them until after I break them. heh heh...

To be a saint is the exception, but to be upright is the rule. err, falter, sin, but be upright.

I craft, and live in my spare time.

Super cute! I love the details in the black on the sides (little box pleaty looking things)
and this looks nothing like a bruise, I adore it.
