Hi all! I am a newcomer to the board, but have been crafting for years. I started cross-stitching in 1997 and have since learned a little sewing and crochet over the years   Smiley  I used to marvel over the gorgeous Christmas stockings that my Grandma made when I was younger, and now that I have little ones around, I wanted to attempt a few of my own! So I started with my niece and nephew's:

The cross-stitches probably took me about 6 months total, (I can only work in the evenings after my little one goes to bed   Wink), I did the padding, lining and backing in an evening, and then finished off the embellishments over the next week. There are a couple things I will do differently when I do my daughter's for next year, but overall I am pretty happy with how they turned out. Now here's hoping the kids like them, LOL!

Thanks for taking a peek!

Wow - these are beautiful! My first thought was "how long did these take!" and I can't imagine staying focused on something for 6 months. Well done!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I can't wait to get started on my daughter's after the holidays, hers is much more detailed, and I am hoping how to do some lacework embellishments to make hers look a little more vintage   Smiley

It's definitely a challenge to stay with it for that long - I have a Mirabilia piece that I have been working on for a few years now cuz I get bored with it and have to take a break and go back to it later, LOL!

Wow - those are so great! I'm sure your kids will cherish those well into adulthood. (says the 43 yr old who just called her mommy to make sure she brings my stocking over).

Truly heirlooms!  My children are always impressed by things that people made, I'm sure your niece and nephew will feel special that you made these cool stockings for them.  Lucky ducks!

Amazing work! My mom made my brother and I cross stitched stockings over 20 years ago and we still use them. I know yours will be cherished by your little ones as well!
