Wow, now I'm starting to wish I had stayed with a more 50's theme! I was gonna go with a dress similar to yours, but I found a gorgeous (and more modern) dress at Goodwill for $30 and couldn't pass it up. I still plan to have the bridesmaid's dresses be 50's-ish though, maybe include some records as table decorations, etc; but now that I see your poofs, I'll definitely include them! I've heard they're really time intensive - what did you think?
Also, I'm with you on the food. We're going for a B.B.Q. feel, and we're going to ask some of my family and church family to help with the food. Gorgeous wedding!  Kiss

You know I really haven't seen 'funny face' yet but maybe I should netflix it given my husband is in love with Audrey.

As for the poofs they ARE a bit time consuming I also had the help of friends and my wonderful church to help make them. Otherwise it would have been an eternity. I did however recently come across coffee filter poofs that look like they are faster to put together.

there was also another method I couldn't find a link for but you just thread a small stack of coffee filters in the center, tie knots at the front and back of the stack and crumple them up. Gosh I wish I had bookmarked it.

About the self catering I say go for it. As long as you have a lot of help to make and serve the food. Buffet style serving would be less of a hassle and having a separate area where beverages are served is best.

Good luck I'm sure it will come out great  Smiley

Cheesy  Fantastic, did you use a pattern? or repurpose the dress?  I am starting to gether ideas for our wedding and would love to have the wedding of my dreams, but on a budget he won't kill me for, so I ll be making alot of my own stuff.

I will not do what you think I should do, because I am me and you are you Smiley

My sister and I were watching Amazing Wedding Cakes...and I was multitasking and looking at this post. Anyway. I shoved my laptop in front of my sister's face and said, "Look at THIS." She and I both agree that your cake is AMAzing. And we both really liked your husband's gray suit. You did a wonderful, spectacular job on everything!

Congrats on getting married, too. Cheesy

This is so adorable! Your dress is beautiful!!

I am planning a wedding now too and I've been trying to come up with some flower alternatives- they are so expensive! So I really like your ideas.  Cheesy Congratulations!

Here is a great alternative:

They have a site that you can buy everything from too. Quite cheap, I think.
