I remember making those with my Mom when I was 7 or 8. We used a wood spool & she hammer 4 small nails in. I had a lot of fun doing that. I can't remember what I made with it. It could coil into a rug. It kept me busy. I also cut up old socks & braided them into a rug. All the old things are neat now & it was fun, instead of all these plastics junk they have now!☺

I remember making those braids from yarn...we made hair ties out of them...actually, this is very similar and much easier to do that knitting icord...I will have to remember this next time I need icord for a project!

Wgen I was a little girl, we used to make long ropes on this tool.  We called it a horse reign.  It is now called a  knobby knitter .  It is basically a small knitting loom.
