like a crochet baby bib?  I was also thinking I could use t-shirts to make things for babies...I might have to play around with that idea!

yeah.  You can crochet a square, pretty much like a dishcloth, and then crochet two straps that button together at the back of the neck.  I've made them knitted like that too...super easy.
T-shirts would make great bibs too, especially if you used a double layer of fabric (or triple) so that messy stuff won't soak through.

Any ideas on what to do with partial skeins of cotton yarn?  I made a whole lot of market bags last year and now I am over those...I really do not use all of the cotton dishcloths I have...hubby does not like potholders other than his silicon glove...I just can't throw even the littlest bit away!

Make these tawashi!

I like to make more than I need, they are handy for little gifts, or to tuck into a swap package as an extra. Cotton ones also make good face/body scrubbies.

I love to make them with little bits of yarn. You get some fun results, because of how they are assembled. Some examples of what I mean here:

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

Thanks for all the baby shower ideas! I am putting together a basket with a little knifty knitted hat, dryer balls, a taggy, and maybe an applique bib or onesie if I have time and/or need to fill the basket up!

TSM- thank you for the awesome tute! I was wondering if you can use other materials besides ribbon? I know it looks awesome and moves all spiffy-like, but I don't have that much ribbon right now, and now have an itch to make something like it  Cheesy

redflags, I bet they would look awesome with skinny silk scarves or bias cut stripes of any fabric that flows really well (like chiffon).

batgirl, that sounds like an awesome baby gift!
