I'm knitting Knitty's Starsky right now and wanted a quick project to appease my need for instant gratification. I saw a random skein of Colinette Point Five in my stash and decided to make a SIMPLE hat.

I cast 35 stitches onto 16-inch US size 15 circular needles and I knit all the way up. I closed off the top of the tube using the kitchener stitch. Because the top was totally flat, I had these natural pointed corners that looked like ears. Using spare yarn from the skein, I defined these ears a little more. Voila.

Someone said it's like a technicolor teddy bear. My boyfriend said, "That's cuuuute. You look like an anime character now." I've taken to wearing this hat all time (it's friggin' cold in Vermont).

I agree. I live in VT too and I'm still wearing pants and hats.

If these walls came crumblin' down
Fell so hard, to make us lose our faith
From what's left you'd figure it out
Still make lemonade taste like a sunny day

That IS like anime hair! Your boyfriend is totally right. Now you're all set for if you ever go to a convention. Smiley

Bright things are good for when the weather desperately needs to be warm. Wear with hope of spring!
