well here goes, i've only been working on this since august, so please be kind, it ended up wonkier in places than i would like but i guess that's part of it's home made charm, so here is my advent calendar i have been creating for my niece, all the ornaments except the angel on top are hand made, and it even has jingly bells as i was thinking the best place for it would be on a door so it would jingle when the door is opened!!  i posted some of my early work in progress pics if any one is interested here:  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=359909.msg4218621#msg4218621

and on to the pictures!!

all loaded up and raring to go!!

with all the ornaments in place!!

some close ups!!

the backs of the ornaments

a few work in progress pictures!!

I remember seeing this, half-finished, in another board where you were worrying about the iron on images...

IT LOOKS FANTASTIC !! You had no need to worry Cheesy It's all really good, and it all works together. I like the combination of sophisticated baubles and then the more traditional images on the back Smiley

thanks, i hand drew them and then used transfer paper to get the images onto the felt, i wanted it quite traditional as i think christmas can be too much about the presents and food!! i'm kind of chuffed with it, i would almost like to keep it!! :-) x

This looks really good. I don't think I've ever seen pictures on felt like that.

This is amazing work, well done. I'm still not finished my advent calander for my girls. Too busy making swap stuff! Mine will be more lame - chocolate in the pockets! But I love the idea of the pockets containing ornaments for the tree, much more healthy than sweets!

thanks, if i'm honest the original idea was to have sweets in the pockets, but, having spent the last year working really hard to lose 5 stone i don't want to encourage my little perfect niece to be a chubby girl like me, i figure she's already got the chubby genes from our family she doesn't need any help, so i had to figure out a way to make a calorie free calendar she could keep for years!! i'm such a mean auntie!! x

Very cute. I think you did a great job. I'm sure the chocolate won't be in short supply, so many good sweets this time of year.
