so i was helping my mom pick out a dollhouse for my niece last Christmas... and i saw all these crazy detailed wooden kits and was like... "i want one of those!" ...she got me one. it was lots of fun figuring out how to put the durn thing together, especially since some of the numbers didn't quite match up how they were supposed to, etc. but when i finished it, i was like... now what? so i decided to just paint it totally outlandish/fun... when i finished that, i was like.... now what? after that the project kinda took on a life of its own.... it's not quite done 'cause my whimsy stash is (not surprisingly) totally busted..... and i've reached a point where i'm just not sure what i wanna do with that last room and that last little space on the downstairs porch....  anybody got any ideas? =)

O.M.G. Totally rocks - every little girl and boy on this site will want one too. I say keep adding stuff as it suits the house and you.

Love the giraffe. And the colors. And all the bits and pieces. Fun, fun, fun.

Oh. My. Gawd. This totally rocks. I've always want to make/have a crazy detailed dollhouse; my sister and I would spend ages looking at all the tiny pieces of furniture and the mini chandeliers. This is WAY cooler.

I love all the sweetness , like the painted hearts, mixed with the kitschy and random. Is that a MJ bride peaking out of the green tower? And the dangling keys look awesome. I say leave the spaces empty for now; you'll know when you uncover something amazing that it was destined to go in one of those places.

I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.

I think you need an Alice doll sitting  in the middle of a black and pink spiraled floor. To give the idea she just landed there! Then paint the walls black with white stars on the walls and ceiling. What do ya think?
  Anyway, Totally Awesome Doll House!

thanks you guys! it's been fun, so far... and i think y'all are right... i've got a few things i could have put in there, but right now i think the house and I are both just..... waiting for the right something to come along. =)

smmartt, funny you should mention that giraffe - i just hot-glued googly eyes to a $.50 dollar store giraffe and he came alive! i have since been hot-glueing googly eyes to a lot of my son's toys......  Grin

IRShannon, i think the key room is my favorite, too... if you look in the lower right corner there's a little blue-glass and pewter teapot charm. i think that's my favorite thing of all... Smiley

twiterpet, you're right. my son's 4, and he will just sit and stare at it for ages (i just have to keep an eye on him - sometimes he can't overcome the urge to try and "liberate" something for himself  Cry ) and yes, the green tower is home to a dollar-store bride and groom cake topper. i made a point that every window and door has either something looking out, or something looking in, or both!

anyways, thanks so much, y'all! I'm so glad you like it!  Cheesy

What you have here is the best entertainment for kids and adults alike! When you do decide what to do with these extra spaces, take pictures of each item in every space and make 'I spy' cards! Use laminating name tag thingys you can get a the dollar store and put them on a key ring. If you put the house on a STABLE turn-table you will be able to entertain all the small people that come you your house for hours!!!

ps, I like the Alic in Wonderland idea, you could use all kinds of stars from buttons to stickers, now is the time to find A-I-W characters to put in with her! You could stick the other characters on the walls and ceiling so it looks like they are falling with her, or better yet, hang some from the ceiling so they look like they are falling!
okay, Im done! lol
