Here is a cake I made recently for a friend's son, as you can see he turned 8! I made the game look like the Halo game using his name and age instead. I painted the cover with paste colouring diluted with water.
C&C welcome!

I could make that for you, but I won't.

That is amazing! I am in awe of your decorating skills. I can't even bake a good cake, let alone do something like this Smiley

Thanks everyone for your kind words!
The cake part was easy, just a rectangle cake cut in half width wise and stacked. Each layer was cut in half and iced then the two pieces iced together then crumb coated with buttercream icing (chocolate cake covered in white fondant has to be crumb coated in the lighter colour or it will show through the white fondant),
The Controller and the game are actually store bought rice krispie treats! I made the shape with my daughter judging it each time I 'thought' I had it right and then made changes as I went along. I then covered them both in fondant and decorated them to match my son's XBox! (My daughters is black, I thought the white one would show more detail!)
I painted the game using a sheet of ricepaper that the grocery stores use to scan pictures onto cakes. I couldn't believe the store charged me $5.00 a half sheet! But besides that I used paste colours for tinting icing and 'water' coloured the game to hopefully look like the Halo 3 cover-at least the cover I thought was easy enough to copy! lol

This is absolutely outstanding. I am a bit of a gamer geek myself, so I can totally appreciate this! Very accurate! If I ever got a cake like this, I don't know if I'd be able to bring myself to eat it!

This is SO awesome!!!

My kiddo turns 13 this summer and I would love to pull off a game-themed birthday cake of some sort for him. Thank you so much for explaining how you made this . . . my wheels are turning!!

(And thanks to Craftster for featuring this on their FB page, because I wouldn't have seen it otherwise!)
