Hi Smiley I think this is my first post, I've been a lurker for years.

Last Christmas, I wanted to give my boyfriend a really nice gift. Heís a video editor and owns his own production company (I work there too Wink ), so I came up with the idea for a color bar quilt! Brilliant planÖminus the fact that Iíve never made a quilt before. So this is my first quilt and I really didn't know what I was doing. It's not bad, considering I didnít have a rotary blade (and didn't know I was supposed to use one). I tried to iron the fabric to the correct size and then cut with scissors. Unfortunately, this didnít go so well and I ended up with various sized squares and some color bars ended up shorter than the others; so I had to improvise. I didnít quite get it finished by Christmas. I just handed the top to him and told him this was his present. I was surprised when he didnít know what it was at first; But he loved it when he figured it out. Smiley

I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.

This is sooo incredibly awesome! I was just lazily flipping through the pics of crafts people finished and I saw this and freaked. You did a kick as job and I can totally appreciate the love of these bars (and the hatred of them too). I went to film school and do editing on the side and one sees a lot of these bars...lol.

Very awesome concept for a quilt.

Now, if you could implant a mini speaker and have it play some 1k tone...   Wink

I love this quilt!!  You did a fantastic job... I can't let my fiance see this, or I will absolutely *have* to make a version of this for him!  (Funny, I'm the one who works in TV broadcasting, but he's the one with the unholy love of SMPTE bars...)

My uncle (who's also in broadcasting) asked if it had a button that would play the tone when pushed. lol. I told him I'd figure out a way to sew that on the back  Cheesy it would be awesome if I could!

Oh, that is awesome!  I've tossed the idea of a test pattern quilt around for years, but it's fabulous to see it come to fruition (and I didn't have to lift a finger).  Smiley  Great job!
