For a work friends birthday  Grin

White choc mud base, stacked brownie glaciers, blueberry jelly lake!

Noone ate it of course- this seems to be my new curse! Its like the 3rd time in a row noone has even cut it and Ive had to throw the whole thing away. It makes me sad inside >_< People use that "too cute to eat" excuse, but man I am SO sick of hearing that! I don't spend days and nights making ridic cakes and giving myself ridiculous baking injuries (my own fault) to just throw them away. *Sigh* I liked it though..

Don't you hate that "It's to beautiful to eat," stuff?

To those I know well (I'm thinking of my mother-in-law, who should know better) I generally end up saying something along the lines of, "I made it to be eaten, not looked at.  EAT IT!!!"

Sometimes with a few profanities.

It's an adorable cake and I would have cut into it post haste!

That is such a beautiful cake. I love the lake, it's so... arctic. Looks way cold. And the penguins are adorable! Excellent work.

If I wanted to look at it badly I'd take a picture and then eat it, but cake is an artform that doesn't keep and whether it's eaten or not, it's a temporary creation. So might as well eat! Cheesy Shame others are too scared. Sad Maybe give them a minute to be awed and then cut that sucker up, once the first damage is done they might get over the loss of the work of art. Smiley

You have to actually cut it, or assign someone to do it.   People won't, because it's so cute,  but once the damage is done they will be glad to eat the tasty cake.

It is cute ... I too spend hours or days making cakes and when someone says it is too cute to eat, I usually say something along the lines of ...*it is too good not to eat* then make sure someone (if I already didn't) got a pic of it and grab the knife.  I have found that no one wants to be to first to *ruin* someones piece of art.  You just have to take the cake by the frosting to do it yourself!  Once one person takes a piece, most will join.

It's SO adorable, but that sucks that all that cake has to go to waste! I bet it would have tasted as awesome as it looks!

I agree with costumesaremylife....you should definitely break the ice (pun intended) and cut into your cake first so that the other people will feel comfortable eating it:)

Agreed....next time take a pic of it, then cut a huge honking piece out & hand the plate immediately to the birthday person! then cut another for yourself & pass off the knife! Either that or you can just keep cutting pieces & putting them out on the table for people to grab.

Super cute cake though! Great job!

Thanks everyone! I would usually try to cut it, but the birthday girl wanted to wait to show some people that hadn't gotten to work yet, and I was leavin- she assured me she would eat it, then assured me again the next day she would cut it up, so it was a bit disheartening coming into work after a day off and finding it all melty and gross and whole still in my container..sigh.  Roll Eyes All in a days work I guess. Love you guys!
