I just finished sewing my first pair of trousers!  I used the Simplicity 3686 pattern, view A.  Going by the measurements on the back of the envelope, I decided to cut a size 22.  Maybe I was off when I took my measurements originally, because I probably could have gone down a size, but they still fit fairly well.  They're really comfortable.

The pant legs seem a lot wider to me than what the package looked like, but I'm sure the models they use have much longer legs than I do!  But I learned a lot from the whole process, and I think I'm ready to try again.  Perhaps when I find a pattern for a nice boot-cut jean.  Any pattern recommendations?

I really like those. Great pattern to pick and imo... great job.

Super cute.  I love wide leg pants with the thick hems.  Really nice Cheesy

They look incredibly comfortable.  Bravo for the bravery to try pants: I'm still cowering behind my skirts.

Thank you!   Grin

I don't know if I'd call it bravery... more like self-driven necessity.  Tongue  I signed up for the Wardrobe Refashion challenge, fully knowing that I can't wear skirts to work on most days and with only 2 pairs of jeans in my closet.  So I pretty much had to dive right in and learn how to make pants!

It wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be though.  The pattern instructions were pretty clear and I really took my time with the construction, thinking everything through before I stitched each step.  They took me about a week (a little bit each day) to construct from cutting to finishing, and I took a lot of time to add details as I went like topstitching.  Smiley

Cute! I always make one size smaller than the pattern says I should..

I sometimes dream of glorious fabrics only to wake, run to to my stash, and realize it's time for a trip to the fabric store...

I'm with Cooleyswife  - the first thing I thought when I saw them is how nicely it fit your bottom.  Very classy looking - you could dress them up or down and still look amazing in them.

I really like them, they look cute!
I can't recommend any trouser patterns because I am too scared to try them myself. You are brave.

I, too, think that those pants look adorable, and would love to make a pair for myself!

There is nothing on earth more entertaining than watching a pack of half-grown puppies playing in snow for the very first time.
