I come from a not so religious family. My husband on the other hand comes from a very religious family. We go to Christmas Eve service with them every year. We've been married for 2 years and the first Christmas we didn't have stockings or presents which was fine with us because we were happy to just be spending the holidays together for the first time ever. Last year I did both stockings which was fun for him, not so much for me lol. This year we are going to visit my family so I don't have to do either of our stockings (score!) means more crafting tome for me.

I am so excited about this swap!

My family is big on stockings on Christmas morning. It was always a tradition between my younger brother and I that whichever one of us woke up first, we would wake the other and run down to open our stockings.  When I moved out and then got married, my heart broke when my husband didn't really see the point in them.  Last year was my first year being separated and I stayed at my parents' on Christmas eve. Even though my heart was lonely for my first holidays "alone", the stockings just made things a bit better.  I can't wait for this swap

I agree! I want my partner to open when they receive the stocking. I love the reactions! Also, I have no self control when it comes to gifts so I'd open mine asap haha

I hope my partner won't mind if I don't open mine until Christmas!  I like the anticipation.

DH and I have 2 little girls, but we have always decorated & celebrated, even before they came along.  I'm the one who's big on celebrating and gift giving; DH is not.  Between that and being estranged from my family, I sometimes feel a little sad at the holidays.

Personally, we can't wait to open them.  I just think of it as 'spreading out the holiday' all month long!

I haven't been a huge fan of the Christmas season over the past several years, because it never feels like Christmas. I was living in CA, so it was Halloween, a cool breeze, then OH! Christmas passed by. I hope that with the cold weather, it will make the holiday season seem more festive.

My family is pretty religious, and I mean in the annoying (not at all endearing) way of making me get up at 6:00 in the morning on Christmas to watch everyone argue and open their presents. It isn't pleasant, and it isn't enjoyable, but I have to do it anyway.

Coupled with the fact that I usually pick out my own presents, the holiday itself with the presents and the commercialism isn't really my cup of iced tea with lemon. Don't get me wrong, though, I LOVE Christmas!

Does that mean I HAVE to have completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time? Or it doesn't matter and its just FYI?

That is correct h-chan. You must complete your very first swap (i.e. have received feedback) before you can sign up for more.

Christmas is not about gifts, I know, but the anticipation of having something to open is powerful.  Just seeing packages under your tree creates a sense that there is still magic possible in the world. I am one of the die hard "Don't open things until Christmas Morning!" folks.  I dont shake, feel, or even try to guess what is in a package.  My mom is 84 and I send her stuff every year, and she sends me a small box.  We phone each other and "open" gifts, knowing she has already peeked because she is worse than a child!  I usually then go see my daughter for an hour or 2, come home and take a nap or whatever to pass the day.  Christmas is not about gifts, I know, but they help.
