Due to insomnia and lack of funds to do the Sketchbook Project this year (durn dental work anyway), I had a thought!

Mark it on the calendar, folks, it doesn't happen often.  Cheesy

What if I were to use one of the blank journals I have laying around here (some people obsessively buy paper or underwear, I obsessively hoard blank journals) and fill it up with... STUFF... Journal-y stuff, and scrapbook-y stuff, and just regular stuff, and deep thoughts, and shallow thoughts, and just let it all out and let it all flow. Right? Then set up a website and email address for this journal, to allow people to post about it, comment on it, ask questions about it, etc., put in a page that refers people to the website, and... loose it into the world to do as it wants.

Has anybody done anything like that? Would you ever do anything like that? Comments welcome!

That sounds like so much fun! I would totally do something like that... only I hate to part with my stuff thinking people who are no so much crafty would just chuck it into the trash if it's just left somewhere... Unless that wasn't what you were talking about. Now a round robin type journal where people decorate pages for you would be fun too.. I know there is a swap for a head start journal right now, but a whole book might be too overwhelming. Would be interesting to see how you do this. I would love to see the results!

I love to do personal swaps. PM me! Smiley

Actually, that's exactly what I was talking about.

The thing is, there are so many things I want to learn to do, or try to do, and would do anyway and just leave them sitting around the house, so why not gather them all up and send it out into the world and see what happens? Just a book filled with doodles, sketches, random rants and blurbs, maybe some sticker or picture collages (yay for magazine cutouts), and little bits of inspiration. Maybe with a few blank pages left at the end for whoever runs across it to fill in. Then set it out there, let it loose, and see where it goes.

There are four colleges within a few miles of here, and I was thinking maybe putting it out on one of them might work better. Especially since two are specifically for artsy-type stuff.

That sounds like a fabulous idea!   You could leave them in coffee shops, on park benches, the possibilities are pretty exciting!  Be sure to make a journal for yourself - you could take pictures of where you leave them, your thoughts about that journal, and notes about the people who visit your website.  What fun!!
