This was my entry to the Sublime Stitching combo contest that went down this last week. It's a fun sci-fi piece inspired by my recent obsession with "Futurama" and my old love of "Reading Rainbow."

Sublime Stitching patterns used: Librarian from "Sexy Librarians", Rocketgirl from "Spaced Out", stars from "Tara McPherson", planet from "Craft Pad", lightning bolts from "Lucha Libre", and cloud puff from "Chinatown".

For Rocketgirl's outfit, I opted for more of a warm, steampunk color palate than a cool sci-fi one.

I used a lot of variegated flosses throughout, mostly on the natural elements like the stars, planet, and flames.

I have to say, though I adored stitching Rocketgirl, I think the librarian came out the best. I love how her satin stitched hair came out:
Reminds me of Amber Von Tussle from the OG "Hairspray"!

I had a lot of fun selecting the different colors for the books:

I was especially proud of her dainty little shoes:

The whole piece was a lot of fun to do. I hadn't done any stitching for a few months before this, so I have the contest to thank for getting me back into my embroidery groove.

Thanks for looking!
