be crafty and a little bit nasty

My cat is a little strange and always tries to suck on your finger, if you let her. She does that till she falls into some kind of trance or even asleep. I like to think that it is a sign of her  love for us (and not, that she is a little retarded)
Even though this can be very annoying, because you almost can't pet her without giving her the finger, it is also really cute. So I took a picture and decided to embroider her. It was my first try on embroidering a picture and using lettering in embroidery, not cross stitch the words.  I like how it turned out, but the lettering is a little crooked and not as even as I like it to be. I used satin and back stitch, maybe I should have used another technique? Does anyone know a good tutorial on how to embroider lettering?
The fabric was a pillow case I inherited by my grandmother. I was quite sad when it tore up - is was really worn out of all the years in use. But now I found a way to re-use the fabric and not just throw it away. I guess, my granny would have liked that, because she was alway very thrifty. Smiley

That is so sweet! & I think you did a wonderful job on the lettering (it's by far the most difficult part for me, as well Smiley

they say if a cat suckles like that it's probably because they were too little when they were weened.  you're now the surrogate mommy!  LOVE the needlework by the way!  it's awesome and i really like the font you used.  also, did you do that print in the background?  or did you just find something niffty to embroider on?

That font is pretty funny, and the whole image is quite bizarre.

I have to say that when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a cat performing fellatio... which it almost is anyway.

I thought the same, julibooli. Cheesy

Your letters look great! The way you embroidered them sounds about the same for all the tutorials and info I've read. Satinstitch, mostly, for letters like that. They look good- far better than I ever seem to manage. Cheesy

That's so wonderful!  And it makes me feel better about my poodle Cosmo, who also likes to suck my fingers sometimes.  (He was rescued from a back yard puppy mill, so we are pretty sure he was removbed from his mom too early)  Some times he just holds our fingers gently in his mouth, some times the tongue gets licking too.  I consider it his way of holding hands...but I know it is done out of love

I've had sucker and kneaders.. I think I prefer the kneaders. My best kitty kneaded w/o claws. My hubbie's little girl, Kaylee licks/sucks his mustache.. we had her since she was two weeks.. he's always allowed her to do it.. yet no kitties on the counter or table tidbits!
One of my kitties used to suck his tail tip when I had him on his back I'd give it to him like a bottle! Same kitty, now grown.. drools a bit when really in that kitty zone, y'know?
The things we do for our pets..
I think you made a wonderful keepsake, cherish it!

This is bizarre and amusing, and oddly sweet at the same time.  Nice job.

Juliebooli and Tadiera, I also saw the thumbnail on the front page and thought it was feline fellatio. XD
