I was lucky to be able to angel for the delightful schnerby a few weeks ago, for an EEPP. Among her themes were birds, trees, and silver, so this is what I came up with. (Thanks schnerby for providing much better pics than mine!)

the whole composition

a couple more shots

the background fabric is silver and hard to photograph, this is a bit closer to the fabric colour

It is stitched on a fine silver synthetic fabric. Two white organza applique circles for the trees and a piece of teal silk for the peacock. All the embroidery is single strand rayon thread (DMC and Rajmahal), using mainly split, satin, chain, straight, and fly stitches. I looked at several peacock pics, and used a couple for reference to help me cut the peacock applique shape, but apart from that, all the stitching and design was pretty much freehand. I was working quickly (short timeframe for angel package of course), so it's not super precise, but I'm really pleased with how the overall effect turned out.

I haven't done much with rayon thread before (it does misbehave a bit more than cotton). Your feedback and suggestions for future projects are very welcome.  Smiley

It is so beautiful! I love the overlapping organza trees.  Your stitching is wonderful.

It is stunning, and will look amazing on my wall. The embroidery is so lovely, so don't listen to her saying things about it not being precise!

The fabric is so subtle and shimmery, but a bit photo-shy. A shame really.

The rayon thread has a lovely glisten to it. It's almost like metallic thread, but hopefully with less drama!
