I am completely new to scrapbooking, and my boyfriend is leaving in October for University, so I thought as a nice gift I would make him a scrapbook. But since I am completely new to all this I have no idea where to start Sad It would be really lovely if people could give me ideas as to where to start, how to start, ideas for layouts (since I am usually rubbish with that sort of thing Tongue). Pretty much any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you very much Smiley

I'm guessing the "theme" will be of you and your BF?

Maybe since it's your first scrapbook you can start with a mini scrapbook rather than the 12" x 12" album? You can get A4 sized ones (to fit normal printer paper) or 8" x 8".

Things you need:
- paper (to fit your album) - look in the sales at Michaels and Joanns, and the $1 section at Target. Even the xmas tree shop glue for embellishments
- stickers - I think a range of alphabet stickers are the most important
- A thing I can't live without is my paper slicer. It will save you SOOOOO much time. And they only cost about $12 from Target.

Keep your pages simple.

Here's some examples of some nice love themed ones here on Craftster.

Or maybe you could do a 52 reasons album? I think they are great!

Goodluck! Post photos when you get started!!

If you only have a month to do this, you might want to go to your local crafting store and see what kind of kits they have. The kits include paper, embellishments, and stickers that all go together so it takes a lot of work off of your shoulders. Since you're new to scrapbooking, keep it simple. Maybe choose one layout design and use it for each page. There are no hard and fast rules to scrapbooking. Just have fun! I'm sure your bf will be thrilled!

I'm doing the same but I have a few years in advance so he can read over old memories in Uni.
I have some pretty journals to write in about our time together or how things are going from my perspective, there are also photos and drawings by me in there too as well as other memos to make him smile.
So far I've completed one 130 page journal in well under 2 months.

I'm taking on that 'reasons why I love you' in a mini note book because I'm sure he'll love it, thank you for the suggestion!!! Smiley
