...that you don't wear and don't suit you and you never should have bought in the first place except that you needed a shopping hit and they were only $7 at After-A-Fashion??

You make a bag! This is my first prototype, I rushed it and there are heaps of dodgy bits but it's kind of cool and it works! I retained the hip and back pockets too - if you look closely you can see some pens sticking out of the side pocket. Lots of swearing went on with this project - particularly as I tried to attach the waistband - and I think next time I'll try to draft a proper pattern instead of making it up as I go along.

Another side view:

The back of the bag with particularly dodgy (and unfinished) shoulder strap. I wear it as a backpack with one diagonal strap. Still haven't worked out the closure yet - a safety pin will do for now - might have to bite the bullet and learn how to put in a zipper. (bites nails)

Great idea Smiley  You can do a zipper!  Just practice on something else first.

Very cool! I love making jean totes. I have made many and sold them at craft shows. there very strong and fun to make your own. by adding beads, belt or lace to spunk them up!
Awesome job!!! Grin

Wink i made a similar backpack a few years ago and after much brainstorming i took a long cord and ran it through the waistband casing and attatched the ends one at each bottom corner of the bag so they are also the straps. i used the bib from a pair of overalls and attatched it to the back of the bag at the top as a cover flap Wink
