I made this pillow for the Edward Gorey swap.  At first I'd tried to embroider the picture, but there was too much detail for the cloth to handle, and it ripped.  So I got some more cloth, blew up the picture in Photoshop, and half traced/half hand-copied the design using Marvy Uchida fabric markers.

The back of the pillow is black velvet, and it's stuffed with a pillow form.  I'm still afraid of my sewing machine, so the whole thing is handsewn.   Roll Eyes  It was really fun to make!  It's the first pillow I've ever made, and the first sewing I've done in about ten years, but now I'm ready to try more. Hee!  Thanks!

As for my sewing machine... I got it for free about a year ago, and it has sat in its box in my closet ever since.  I've never machine-sewed, ever, so I don't know how to get started.  Also, I am completely convinced that I will somehow sew my fingers together.

This is just the greatest thing ever.

I would love a Neville (who unfortunately died of ennui) pillow, but can't imagine what it would be like to do all the dark bits.

That's fantastic. From the photo it looks like it was already printed on the fabric. I love Gorey.

Oooh... Neville is a good one.  I think it's doable, it would just take a lot of patience to do the window lines dark, and the wall lines lighter.  I think next I want to do something with "B is for Basil, assaulted by bears".  I love those bears.  Smiley
