So I had a pattern and a remnant and a bit of time one day, and I made this apron.

Now, it's not my usual style, but I thought it was fun and kind of cute in a retro way. It's a McCalls pattern, but I changed the gathers into pleats, made up the heart pocket myself, and added the button.

I showed it to my dh, and do you know what he said? "Ghastly." When I asked for more constructive feedback, he said, "Utterly. Ghastly."

Hmmmm. Is my cute/fun-meter completely off here?

Perhaps a swap is called for. (The apron, not the hubby!!  Wink  He really is very lovely, and got me an adjustable dress form for my birthday, despite his craft aversion.)

What do you think, fellow craftsters? Be honest, I can handle it.  Cheesy

It's super cute! If he doesn't like it he should be more specific lol! (color, style, ?)

You really can't trust men's opinions on these things, unless they're gay, and sometimes not even then. I think this is gorgeous! The colors are so peppy and very retro, and you can dress it up or down. I love the wavy shape of the hem. Nice job!

I love the colour, the dots, the shape and the pocket. It's so absolutely cute I wouldn't wear it to avoid stains.

Aww, there are some times when you just have to ignore negative second opinions.  Especially when they come from males (or younger sisters).  Maybe it just doesn't fit in with the styles he likes--you don't have to be constrained by his sense of fashion.  I think it's cute.

I mean, it *might* become a little bit overdone if you added yards of lace, multiple kittens, rainbows, and unicorn vomit with some sparkles thrown in for good measure.  The point, though, is that your apron is nowhere near the realm of ghastly and it would take quite a lot to get it there.

But I just made a skirt and stuck kitty-shaped pockets on it, so I might not be the best one to ask.

I love it. It's super cute. I don't see anything ghastly about it at all. Smiley
I would keep it if I were you.
My family tends to think that things I make are hideous, but then they get used to them. I like to think that they start to like them. Or forget that they're hideous. Wink

Ghastly? Never! It's really cute. I like everything about it, especially the heart shaped pocket, I think I might just have to put one on the next apron I make  Smiley
