zombie queen, what is that contraption... the x shaped thing with the stick sticking out all wraped in pretty yarn?

Yup, it is indeed a Turkish spindle.  You take the stick out and the arms come out and there you have a center pulled ball all wound up for you! I still prefer my top whorl spindle, though. Its much faster.

Ah, my weekly dose of yarn pr0n.  Cheesy

aman.called.pan- Loving both of those! The 3ply reminds me of the post-apocalyptic and industrial setting games like Fallout 3 for some reason.
..- I'm really looking forward to seeing this one plied up  Tongue
shootenanny- wow. just wow. I am still very much in envy of your spinning skills.
Zombie_queen- The name 'Getting Warmer' really does suit those singles! Also, congrats on the indoctrination, *ahem* i mean introduction of your son to spinning.

Alas, I have nothing to post this week but i should have the attempt-at-boucle-ish done by next Fiber Friday. x_x I'm using one drop spindle at the moment and winding the singles over to 'bobbins' (aka spare pencils) is driving me insane(er).

A little late, but I have a few to share that I worked on over my offline break. I've been so excited to share them and at the end I'll link to a thread of hats I'm going to post in the crocheting board. These yarns are in balls because I've been working with them in my hats for a while. I wish I had pics of them skeined.

This is a blend of bamboo, SSS wool: some with mohair & some without, firestar (mixture of tealish green, blue and gold like a peacock) and maybe some other things I can't remember. Penguino sent me a rainbow batt in a fiber swap and it was so pretty to work with. I blended in other fibers that I had dyed or bought. I think this is one of my favorites so far. I can't decide what I'm going to do with it. I think it needs to go into another hat.

A blend of SSS wool and some brown wool I got from the lady I bought my wheel from. It's a shorter staple wool that seems coarse but isn't and drafts really well. I was able to take a small amount and draft it along with the white wool very finely. It was super fun.

SSS wool I dyed with pink Dylon dye, plied with pink sewing thread

Fiber Lady bamboo I dyed with Jacquard dyes that they now sell in Joann's. Is anyone else able to get them there now? I FREAKED out when I saw they had a huge display with every color. I haven't gotten to go back and it's been a while I hope they're still there. This bamboo yarn is purple with a blue tint. It's much more blue than the pictures shows. My little blue mats sort of drowns it out.

These are the hats I've been working on lately. I put them up in the crocheting boards: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=352658.0

here's my alpaca 2-ply.  it's only my 2nd time plying.  and it was my first time working with alpaca.  it spun up really nicely, and it's so soft!  i actually met the alpaca that this came from too.  heehee.   Cheesy

all balled up.  this picture shows the color a bit more accurately.

Thanks Bella, they were fun to make. Good to see you too. Speaking of fantabulous, I spied a really cute baby on your blog. Smiley

Puppy_girlI just love the alpaca yarns and how natural they look in browns and greys. I love how that's plied too. Very pretty.
