I am obsessed with octopi.  I was experimenting with other things, when I decided to find out if I could even cut out an octopus with an x-acto knife.  Originally it was going to be a pendant, but I don't really wear necklaces, and I liked how it turned out.  So, I thought it would make a really cool headband.

it makes me smile  Grin

It's made from an old headband I painted and... cardboard.  I hit the cardboard with a LOT of outdoor ModPodge, and I'm really hoping it holds up.  Any suggestions?

Please excuse the picture quality, my digital camera is dead so I used my webcam.

That is too cute! I'm a little obsessed with octopi as well Grin

What is this "normal" you talk about? Is it contagious? OMG! Stay away! Don't touch me! I might catch your normal!

I'm brand new to crafster and the first thing I looked up was "octopus" and this is the first craft I'm going to try.  Smiley

octopi are cool!
I like that very much, i think I'd like it better with tentacles coing downwards but that's just me.. maybe you could even try to wrap the cardboard in fabric and hot glue it, so you could have variations?

just ideas pouring in!

I too love them and this is super cute!  I agree that I would prefer it to be in the other direction, tenicals down and I would LOVEEEEEEEEEEE to see it covered in glitter, but that is just me!  I adore simple things and would not go all gawdy on it, but this thing blinged out in like a deep purple would be to die for I tell ya!

Fabric or some awesome scrapbooking paper would also be nice.  I just might have to copy this one girlie!

Love it! & I like it facing down how it is, it gives it a bit of abstract quality, makes you stop and think about it for a second Wink

Sorry I don't have any advice about preserving it!

What a cool headband! I agree with metalsmitten and think it looks good up-side-down, too. I think it would also be cute painted a neutral color like cream or gray, with maybe a worn look to it. Awesome idea and awesome job.
