I decided to challenge myself and attempt a MAQ for the OWS. I also tried my hadn at free motion quilting for the first time which proved a little more difficult on my very basic non quilting sewing machine. But I really love the way it turned out and am definitely going to be trying it again! Let me know what you think or if you have any hints for me for my next one Smiley
The front of the quilt

Close up of the bird, the fiber nest and the quilted tree branch

The sun and a glimpse of the quilting in the sky

And finally, the grass which is slightly frayed with the grass blade quilting design and fabric cut out flowers.

Thanks for looking!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? This is very well done. I have a free motion foot and I cannot do this good. This is a great MAQ so please consider the MAQ swap round 3 in discussion right now.

I love the nest...it almost looks gibbous-y, haha.

I also tried free motion quilting without one of those fancy feet, so I know how hard it is, but your stitches look great!

Thanks ladies! I think I will have to break down and buy one of those feet. And lovesclutter- I have been eyeing that swap and stalked the last round Smiley

It's really cute as it is. I would suggest getting the foot though-more dimensional and textural quilting would really improve it. I'd also say that I would have followed the lines of the fabric in the sky and made the quilting horizontal there. The thread nest is a really creative idea-love that. Nice work! Smiley
