I've read the threads here about the die cutting machines, and it sounds like the cuttlebug would work for me for that purpose.... but i'd also like to be able to do embossing -- so the wizard seems okay for that?

What out there does both, and is a good product, AND takes dies/tools from many different manufacturers? (and isn't $500)

bonus points if it will emboss on a bunch of different materials!

Cuttlebug will take all the dies and embossing plates.

BigKick/BigShot (same company, same machine, different colors) take all the dies and embossing plates. It will cut and emboss on anything.

Both the Cuttlebug and Big machines do a good job on a variety of material. The BigKick is much sturdier and better for mixed media.

You can use coupons for the machines at any of your craft stores. Each machine would be under $70 then.

Any questions don't be afraid to ask. I have a few posts here on die cutting machines and all they do.
