Not sure if this should go under "Designer Clothing Homage" but I suppose I'll see how it goes here first Tongue

I fell in love with this dress Alexa Chung wore on her "It's On with Alexa Chung" show, by Opening Ceremony and thought it was easy enough! Bought some floral brocade type material that my Mum was like "You can't use that it's curtain fabric!" haha and just used the same bodice pattern I drafted for my Anita dress and added more darts and a pleated skirt and sleeves and voila!

I think hers was made from a heavy knit fabric but since my fabric wasn't stretch I had to put in a zip. I really wanted a cream coloured zip with gold hardware but my local Lincraft didn't have any in the length I needed and wasn't keen on running around town to find a store that did so I settled for a black one. Still not sure whether I ruined it with the black zip Huh Thoughts?

Also made another "making of" video for my blog  Cheesy I have wayyy too much fun sewing you guys

I love the black zipper! Exposed zippers are quickly becoming one of my favorite trends ever. And I love your fabric too. Very  pretty.

I love that and would tie a wide band of black around the waistline and hem to tie it in, if you can find a fabric or webbing that goes well with your brocade. It fits lovely. I don't do zippers, so you go girl.

Hmmm. I'm on the fence with the zipper. I love exposed zippers, but I think it works only if you dress it. Ya know? Like I think you need black shoes, and edgy without being to edgy accessories. Then I think it's fab. It's a bit of a oxymoron, a sweet white dress with a black zip, Like Diane Arbus! As long as you acknowledge the zipper I think it totally works. Oh a interesting belt would bring it together.
