I've been searching high and low for a bathing suit top that will fit and not be ugly. I'm rather busty and I cant find any bikini tops that fit well, are not ugly, or 100$+ so I figured i'd try my hand at making one. Only problem is I dont know what sort of fabric to use? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks:)

You want something with Lycra or Spandex in it.

Most fabric stores will have some sort of active wear fabric that will work.

You can check out this store as they have a very large selection.

Most swimsuits are made out of lycra, or more commonly known as spandex. Pretty much any basic fabric store (Joann, Hancock, etc.) only provide spandex in solid colors, so they don't have any special prints or anything.

I actually got some spandex a couple of weeks ago from this website: http://spandexworld.com/
You can browse around all of the different selections they have, and you can actually order samples for free. Under the image of the fabric, it tells you what purpose the fabric is best for (swimwear, dancewear, blouses). Hopefully you'll be able to find something good, because I understand how difficult it is trying to find a nice bathing suit.

Since it looks like others have answered the more sewing-related side of your question, I'm going to suggest something that might be a little easier, if a little less fun.  I hear you on the busty+bathing suit issue, and I was all set to make one (since my sewing skills are mediocre, it'd probably have been a disaster) when I stumbled across http://www.figleaves.com/us/department.asp?dept=Outlet_Women_Swimwear&page=1&sortorderrequested=2&searchhandle_rhs=A%3doutlet+%7eB%3doutlet+%7eC%3d1%7eD%3d60%7eE%3d1%5e1%5e0%5e%7eG%3d11130%5e2%5e11137%5e2%7eK%3d4%7eL%3d1%7eM%3d3%7eN%3d6%7e&originalquery=Outlet%20&sort_order_rhs=&sort_order=2%202&selectpagesize=60%2060&size=&colouranswerselected=&spellercorrections=&hd=&match=&fid=&productid=&productcolour=.  They have some very cute underwire bikini tops in a *wide* range of sizes, and their prices (especially the clearance ones) aren't half bad.

But yeah.  Lycra.  Good luck in your sewing endeavor!
