I thought I'd find a good place to put this in the "Home Sweet Home" category, but apparently outdoorsiness doesn't count??? It's summer. I spend at least one day a week in a boat Tongue

Anyways, I have a RIDICULOUS number of bottle caps (mostly beer, some coolers, a couple soda) that I collected from my own habit and my former room-mates, as well as asking at the bar two buildings down Tongue

Here's a pic featuring several styles, of which I chose the one on the far right:

And this is more or less the how-to I followed plus some mental engineering:

And of course, my finished product!

Clockwise from top left is (body/spinner) Labatt Blue/Canadian Light, Canadian (new style cap)/Molson Export, Budweiser/Canadian (new style), Mike's Hard Lemonade/Mike's Hard Limeade, Labatt Ice/MYSTERY CAP!!! (seriously have no clue), Smirnoff Ice/Coors Light, Budweiser/Lakeport Honey.

You'll notice I've tried to have two versions of each body colour. Eg black with gold, black with silver, red with gold, red with silver, etc. Unfortunately, I couldn't make any more cap lures because I needed to save my eighth treble hook to repair my favourite size 2 bell-spinner.

Also, I'm going to keep track of my usage and catches with each colour combination so I can scientifically determine the best for smallmouth bass in a relatively clear water lake (aka my usual fishing hole Tongue).

I also noticed that the Cap Collector Haven doesn't have the newest Canadian cap, OR the newest Carling cap. FOR SHAME!

Pretty nifty idea! And hey, what do ya know... it's "green" too! LOL! Keep us updated on how they work out as a lure. I hope they work as good as they look  Grin

What is this "normal" you talk about? Is it contagious? OMG! Stay away! Don't touch me! I might catch your normal!

I'm going camping this weekend on the Montreal River! It's quite close to it's headwaters, near a place that supposedly has GREAT bass fishing Cheesy I finally get to test these puppies out!

How did it go? Also, what did you use to drill the hole in the bottle caps? I'd like to try to make these for my boyfriend.

Awesome. I never seem to have any success with lures. Can't wait to find out how well yours worked.

Ok, so I managed to try out two of them. And I tried them both on the same day. Either I have engineered them incorrectly, or I need to not-use a spinning leader, because the action was all wrong. Doesn't help that the fish are hardly biting this summer, so I guess it doesn't matter that I haven't been out in a boat much Tongue

They look great, sorry they didn't work out! Hope that you manage to perfect the design Smiley
