This is the 2nd dress I have made using the Made by Rae pattern for an Itty Bitty Baby Dress.

It's a hot pink and black zebra print. The bodice is lined with plain black fabric, and trimmed with 2 lines of jumbo black rick rack.  There is a band of black fabric around the bottom of the skirt portion.

A closeup of the tag.

At my friend's house, waiting her sweet baby Maisy, due in September.

That is adorable.  Thats fabric I probably would never look twice at, thinking I couldn't make it look good, but this dress is fantastic.

I went to the store intending to buy a skull print fabric, because my friend looooooves those, but as soon as I saw this fabric I fell in love.  She just made her a hot pink and black crocheted blanket too, so I knew the color combo would be a hit.

this dress is pure AWESOMENESS!!! I saw that fabric at walmart the other day and loved it but I wasnt sure if it was too bright or busy for a dress, but now I know that it makes some rock'in dress fabric.

Oh my, this is too cute!  And a special thanks to Vikingmom for telling me it was at Walmart, too.  I may have to make my daughter one of these in the bigger pattern size that Rae has.

Yup, It's like $4.44/yard or something like that - they also have a purple and black cheetah/leopard type print, and some other bright animal prints. The black is just plain broadcloth which they sell for like $1.88/yd or so.

I followed this tutorial (http://deannasstuff.blogspot.com/2009/03/another-hem-tutorialcontrasting.html) for the band for the hem loosely... I sewed the two skirt panels together along one side, then added the black band, and then did the other side seam... then gathered and attached the skirt to the bodice.
