I'm so proud of myself - this is one of the biggest crochet projects I've done, and it turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. I'm a little nit picky, and still a little unsure about the straps, but all in all it's good. It'll grow on me.

This is the pattern I followed: (I used two strands of yarn with a bigger hook like she suggested, and it worked well!)
http://bendbeanies.blogspot.com/2009/05/bag-pattern.html
I used six rows for the band, and four rows for the strap. She said I should work 45 stitches across in the body, but I only worked in 43, not sure where I went wrong, but it worked! Who knows...

All the photos show the purse with a flower, but I couldn't figure out a flower I liked, so I strung a ribbon through the scrunchy part instead. This was actually the sash/tie/belt thingy to the cocktail dress that I wore at my wedding!

Here it is:

No in progress shots, but here's what happened the night I ran out of yarn and showed the work in progress to my hubby:

I like it, it's big enough for all my crap AND a book! hehe Grin

So, do you think the straps are too skinny in contrast to the band, since I did the straps in 4 rows and the band in 6? It's buggin' me...

Thanks! Cheesy It was really fun - took a good part of a Saturday, but it's pretty easy once you get the hang of the pattern. Good luck! Let me see pics when you're done.

I really like the yarn color and it looks very polished. I could never make anything this nice! Great job! And the ribbon's cute too Smiley

Beautiful job! This is definitely going on my to-do list! Cheesy I think the straps look fine, I actually really like the width of them. I also love the ribbon! How awesome to use a memento from your wedding Smiley

I love your fat bottom bag. I've actually worked this same pattern before and love it too. I did mine using plastic bags (plarn). I want to do it in wool next.
