My friend's birthday was June first, and while we only have ever talked online, I send her numerous crafty gifts for no reason.  Grin She is a lover of all things music and I simply adore her. She's helped me through a lot of tough times I really couldn't talk with other people about.

So for her 25th birthday, I wanted to make her something special, something that told her how much she means to me. I was browsing over at Urban Threads and came upon this pattern which was perfect for what I wanted to do. I already had all of the thread colors I wanted and the pillow I was going to embroider it onto.

Here's the results!

The hardest part of this project for me was the round portions of the headphones. I don't have a light box, and the only method I had to transfer the pattern was to print off a copy and trace it very firm with a pencil to get a pressure line on the fabric, then retrace that with the white marking pen. I used long and short stitch to fill in the areas and then a split stitch for outlining + the cord. The notes are back stitching as well as my free handwriting + heart on the back. All in all this took me about 3 weeks of picking it up and putting it down again. I finally finished it last night while watching the Movie Awards on MTV.

I'm obviously a few days late giving her a gift for her special day, but she doesn't even know its coming at all. So when it shows up on her doorstep this week it will be a complete surprise!  Cheesy

Comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for taking a look!

I recently bookmarked that pattern because I loved it so. Cheesy

This is very great! I'm planning out pillows for my living room, so I may have to steal this idea. Cheesy Love the headphones + musical notes.
