So I got home from visiting my sister in the hospital for the last three weeks to find my package from Krafty Karasu! Yay! We discussed our love for Silent hill and she made me this awesome cross stitch in a really neat silent hill frame! I love it!

all tea-dyed.  yes, that is tea-dyed TISSUE PAPER on the frame.  I usually use tissue paper when I decorate things like this because I love the look of it, but I couldn't find any in a suitable Silent Hill-ish color, so I used some tea to dye it.  I did the same thing to the Aida cloth I stitched on.  Grin  I don't know if you can smell tea anymore, but by the time I was done with it, all I could smell was glue and paint.  O_o

I'm glad that you like it.  Grin

I'm sure it will go away...eventually.  Cheesy  I didn't think it smelled too bad.  it's black tea, so that may be why it's a little stronger.

only dye tissue paper if you REALLY need a certain color that can't be bought and if you have a lot of patience.  it would get stuck to itself, tear, what have you...I had to make up the tea in a BIG bowl and do the tissue paper chunk by chunk.  I think the largest piece was probably 4 inches, and a sheet of tissue paper is a LOT bigger than that.  I ended up using a whole sheet too.  I'm glad I did so much because the color of the frame kept showing through, and I couldn't have that.  silver doesn't quite fit in the rusted, blood-stained world of Silent Hill.  Wink

Everyones stuff looks great!!  Does the paper mache open?  And I totally agree with you guys, cross stitch is VERY addictive.  I took a few years break from it, but just made a couple little things and now I can't get enough!  I haven't bought a x stitch mag in years and since I restarted a couple months ago I think I've bought 3!! Cheesy

I used to cross stitch a tiny bit, then I gave it up.  but something made me pick it up again.  it was a swap, I know that, I just don't remember which one.  Undecided  now I'm doing far more intricate stuff than I used to.  I mean HELLO!  I went from doing little simple things to making needlebooks.  Cheesy

thank you much.  Grin  the only things I don't like about cross stitch is:
1.  jabbing myself when I'm not paying attention
2.  having to rip sections apart because I'm not paying attention
3.  how long it seems to take when you're doing a fill-in of a single color.

I made something for another swap that had a LOT of solid coloring, and I was ready to cry!  but I got through it.  Wink
