That's a beautiful story and a beautiful quilt.  I really like the witch hat/cauldron corners too.

Beautiful quilt!  I'm so sorry about your grandma.  Mine will have been gone a year in October.  And, like your grandma, mine is the one that taught me to sew.  I now have her sewing machine and sewing box.  It was very hard to use it at first, but now it makes me smile.  Because I can imagine her using it and I know that she would be very happy that I was using it and making things for her great grandchildren.  You will always have an ache in your heart for her, long for a big hug, but it does it get easier.

Thank you everyone for your compliments and well wishes.  I'm pretty sure I will miss her everyday...and it just goes on and on and on...one woman sure can accumulate a lot, and I mean A LOT of stuff in a lifetime.   Grin  I have most all of her sewing stuff, including her Viking Husqvarna sewing machine that does everything but the dishes (and it may do that too, I just haven't gotten that far in the manual)....and I know that she would be proud of the quilts that I've made, and the quilts that I will be making.

I will say that it is a little weird to *ahem* with my husband knowing grandma's quilt is like getting a hug from her every night....  *L*  I should never be thinking of my grandma at a time like that!   Shocked

I love, love, love the fact that you left the pinwheels that were wrong just as they were.  That gives quilts so much character in my eyes.
