Hi all!

I finished the Sophie purse from MagKnits for my Mom today:

Here's the before felting picture:

It was really fun and really easy to do.  This is the first finished project I've posted!  Here's the pic of the finished product.  The only thing I've added since are snap closures.

I'll try to get a picture of her sporting it later today, although she is pretty camera shy (I don't know why; she's really cute!).

I only washed it twice, so I probably could have gotten it smaller and more feltier, but I liked the way it looks as is.  It only shrunk about an inch in width and nearly 3 inches in height.  I really want to make one for myself now!  The flowers and leaves are cut out from felt square bought at the craft store, with yellow buttons in the middle.  The lining was from quilting fabric I bought in JoAnn's remnants pile.  I used interfacing to give it more body.

I'm in the process of felting a bag for my mom too!  Your's turned out beautiful!  Great idea about adding interfacing and lining.  Just might have to do that to my Sophie bag!

Your bag came out great. Love the color and the flowers are just darling.  Your Mom is a lucky chica!

To those of you who've made this bag, would it be possible to put a zipper closure in?  Or would it look horrid?  I'd love to make one of these for myself, but if I don't have a zipper in the top of my purse, when my purse invariably flops over on the seat of my car, the contents of said flopped over purse wind up all over the car floor, and I hate that.  So I've found that if I can't zip a purse so my stuff doesn't wind up lost in my car somewhere, I end up putting it away, to be looked at and admired, but never to be used again....

I think you could put a zipper in them. If you put lining in of course. I'm pretty lazy about it so I always put in a magnetic snap. It works well for me but I usually only have a wallet & a cell phone in mine.

I would be interested to hear if anyone had used a zipper closure in a sophie too.

Anyone,Anyone??
