I had the irrational urge to make Barbie clothes a few days ago, and the product of my half-assed labors is one flouncy minidress and an underskirt to go with it.

The finished product, on my lovely model, Bill. You can see the front is laced up in the same color yarn, and then tied with a simple bow.

The side view really shows off the volume better.

I'd give you guys the pattern, but I can barely read patterns, let alone write them. The dress was actually fitted to the doll, so it meets her measurements precisely. The bodice is single crochet, which I got to narrow to the doll's body by skipping stitches. Once I got to the thinnest part of the waist, I started double crochet while putting two stitches into each stitch on the previous row. The underskirt is just a double crochet tube with a drawstring to pull it tight.

Hope you like it!

I love you now. Isn't that enough?

You did a good job, especially since you made up your own pattern. I remember my mom  crocheting dresses for my dolls.
